Cyanide Breathmint

// July 14th, 2009 // No Comments » // TV & FIlm

Our partner company, Pixel Propaganda, launched their new site with an exciting short film entitled “Cyanide Breathmint.”

A teacher with a bad attitude becomes involved in a stand off of stubbornness between herself and a student who attempts to turn in a late exam.

Watch it now. Beautiful imagery — you’ll thank us later (a beer works anytime).

A Hello and Update from Cando Creative

I call this The TwigaPhone

"The TwigaPhone"

Hello Webfellows, as you know we’ve been working on Twitrpix.com our online/mobile destination that shares photos on Twitter. Check it out (http://twitrpix.com), we’re proud to provide this service to the global population of the Twitterverse.

We are also working on a short film called Cyanide Breathmint. It was shot on 35mm and transferred to Hi-Def for completion. The final picture and story has been locked and now it’s on to the sound design and mixing. As well as the scoring.

The sound and music of CB is a area of filmmaking that we don’t have as much experience as other areas of filmmaking. And that’s why we are going to keep a online blog journal of the experience and ask you for your opinion as we finish this film project that has been delayed for years (don’t delay it, just do it and let it live). Any comments and suggestions will be read and considered. If we decide to use any suggestions we will credit you in the films closing credits and shout out to you here on your blogs.

I’ve uploaded 5 still photos from the film. Check them out on Twitrpix.com. Also, let us know what you think of Twitrpix. With each blog entry, we’ll include photos both here and on TwitrPix.

Come along for the ride. Read, watch and participate if you want to.

Aptana Studio (IDE) – A First Look

// June 13th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Development

Here at Cando, we consider ourselves old school for the most part. We don’t use programs like Dreamweaver or any HTML applications like it to develop web apps. While they have their place, we code everything by hand — every line of code in CSS, HTML, PHP, etc. is done solely in our favorite text editor, Text Wrangler from Bare Bones Software. In fact, we don’t even use the Visual editor in Wordpress to write these posts. Yes, we’re hardcore to the bone.
Aptana Studio
Recently, I took a look at a few IDEs to see what all of the fuss was about. After trying 4 of them over the course of a week, I was rather unimpressed with the results. Granted they work slightly differently from each other and overall the goal is to speed up development, I found them rather difficult to use. I also particularly found the interface to be an eye sore. Though thinking about it further, I decided to give them another go and be a little bit more open to how they work. I won’t go into which IDEs they were though except to say that the one that stood out from crowd was Aptana Studio.
